In all honesty, the world needs another blog like I need another root canal. I don’t begin this with any delusions that this blog will change the world or be the thing that everyone is missing. It won’t be that. I don’t think it can be that. Not because the quality of writing won’t be worthy of the masses, I think it will be. That says little about my writing and much more about the quality of what’s presently being published. Most of what is being published is full of errors, juvenile, and laughable at best.
I suppose this blog could be for everyone but it won’t be because the content won’t be for everyone. Again, it can’t be for everyone. But it will be something for someone and that’s why I am doing it.
“We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.” – C.S. Lewis
Maybe it’s selfish but I am not writing so that the world (or a much smaller audience) will understand me. I really don’t care if the world understands me. Rather, I am writing in hopes that I may better understand the things in which I am writing about and if you, the reader, should benefit from this otherwise foolish pontificating then that is a credit to The Word and not my words.
So what is The Wicket Gate? This is a blog about truth. More specifically The Truth. The name comes from the John Bunyan classic “Pilgrim’s Progress”. An allegory about the Christian life. The Wicket Gate is the way by which one must enter to find the path to eternal life. Maybe it’s giving away too much at the beginning but the Wicket Gate is Jesus Christ. So to enter through the Wicket Gate is to enter the way through the person of Jesus Christ.
But who is Jesus? What does he teach? What does this gate look like? How do I enter? What do I do once I enter? These are the questions I hope to answer, nay, these are the questions I will answer. Not because I am smart, but because I know where to look to find them. I’ll take some of the initial work off of you, but you will have to walk through the gate yourself.
What’s that you say? You’ve already walked in? Are you sure you went through the correct gate? There are a lot of fake ones. Did I mention you may not like what I have to say? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.
This is The Wicket Gate.
